Paul Bransom (1885-1979) a native of Washington, D.C., received early training in mechanical drawing which led him to analyze and record the individual characteristics of each of the animals he drew. He had a long and distinguished career as an animal artist, illustrating hundreds of magazine stories and articles, and nearly fifty books on wildlife subjects, including Jack London's “Call of the Wild”
