With 2 pp. autograph note (16 lines) from the artist on the conjugate. 2 x 4-1/4 inches on a larger sheet (3-3/4 x 10 inches), New York: Aug 19th, 1920. Proof impression. Some minor paper flaws at margins (one trace of adhesion), small wrinkle. Fine.Fine early Clark image, prepared by the artist as a token of thanks to early supporters, addressed to "Walter R—— Esq, 23 Beaver St., N.Y., N.Y. My dear Mr. R——, won't you accept this little proof with my best wishes. I have been more than pleased with the success of my prints during the past six months & I should like all who have contributed to that success to be reminded in this small way of my appreciation, Sincerely yours, Roland H. Clark N.Y. Aug. 17th [19]20" The size of this proof corresponds to Three Broadbills, published in 1920 in an edition of 30, from the list in Roland Clark's Etchings (1938) and in Ordeman Ordeman, To Keep a Tryst with the Dawn, p. 104.
