A key motif in the Clarke ouevre--a graceful, slender-fingered hand, here resting poised on the edge of a table. It's conceivable that Clarke modeled this study with his own hand, as Bowe notes the artist's "long tapering fingers" (Bowe, HARRY CLAKRE, p. 23). Provenance: Clarke estate.
