Hand-colored aquatint engraving, signed in pencil “Roland Clark” at lower right. 20 x 17 inches (plate mark) on a larger sheet, New York: The Derrydale Press, 1941. No. 1 of an edition of 250. In fine condition, framed (overall size 25 x 21 inches).Published in the final year of the Derrydale Press, this marvellous depiction of a blue wing teal arising from marshland against a pale blue sky is one of the last of the Derrydale prints, and is from the most popular series the Press ever published. With the finest possible provenance: the publisher’s own copy Siegel, pp.194-195; Ordeman, The Derrydale Prints (2005), pp. 37-48, 104. Provenance: Eugene V. Connett, 3rd; his son, Eugene V. Connett IV.
