Roland Clark (1874-1957) was known primarily as a etcher of wildfowl, but he also worked in watercolors and oils. His works are some of the most sought-after in the field of American sporting art. Between 1931 and 1938 he wrote and illustrated three Derrydale Press books: “Stray Shots”, “Gunner's Dawn”, and a collection of his graphics, “Roland Clark’s Etchings”. After Connett closed the Derrydale Press, Frank Lowe continued to publish sporting prints by Clark through 1947 The last print published by the Derrydale Press, with the finest possible provenance: the publisher’s own copy Siegel, pp.194-195; Ordeman, The Derrydale Prints (2005), pp. 37-48, 104.
