(Capote, Truman)

Two snapshot portraits of Truman Capote as a small boy

Gelatin silver prints. 3-1/2 x 2-1/2 inches, [Monroeville, Alabama?: ca. 1928]. Some stains and spotting to one, a few creases.

Rare and early snapshots of Capote as a small boy, presumably in Monroeville, Alabama where he was raised by his maternal aunt and uncle, Addie and Seeabon Faulk. In one, a smiling Capote stands with his hands on hips a sailor suit; in the other, Truman, again in a suit, is held by his uncle Seabon Faulk. Provenance: Estate of Joseph Faulk, the son of Seabon and Addie.
